Abstract: The amputation of lower limbs represents a major challenge for public health policies in several countries around the world. In Brazil, about 25,000 people undergo limb amputation every year. After an amputation procedure and a period of rehabilitation, patient satisfaction with their prosthesis is essential to increase mobility, frequency of use and decrease rejection. Thus, with the aim of creating an instrument to assess satisfaction with the prosthesis, the Amputee Satisfaction Questionnaire with their Prosthesis (SAT-PRO) was developed to specifically assess satisfaction with the prosthesis among the elderly population and, through the variables of psychometric properties, assess their reliability and validity. From this premise, two studies were elaborated. The first study aimed to systematically review the psychometric properties that assess satisfaction with the prosthesis. Adopting the following eligibility criteria: unilateral and bilateral amputation, both genders, age greater than 18 years and using the prosthesis. Original, observational and experimental studies were included. The following databases were used for the search strategies: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus (Elsevier), CINAHL and PsycINFO. The selection of studies and data extraction were carried out by reviewers who evaluated the articles independently. The studies presented domains related to satisfaction with the prosthesis, such as appearance, weight, usefulness, functionality, comfort, care services and general satisfaction. Thus, aspects related to functionality, aesthetics and comfort must be taken into account for the elaboration of an effective questionnaire that reliably assesses satisfaction with the prosthesis of amputees. The second article, empirical in nature, methodological, with a cross-sectional approach, aimed to analyze the psychometric properties of the SAT-PRO/Br. The study sample consisted of elderly people aged over 60 years, with unilateral transtibial or transfemoral amputation who were selected through specialized institutions to support people with disabilities. To describe the sample, the demographic data sheet was used, in addition to the SATPRO/Br and the Trinity Amputation and Prosthesis Experience Scales - Revised (TAPES-R). Thus, for the application of the questionnaire and the test-retest, it was carried out in person or by telephone. The SAT-PRO/Br and TAPES-R showed a strong correlation with regard to concurrent validity. Stability ranged from 0.85 to 0.91 across ICC. The fit model indices showed values of CFI of 0.991, TLI of 0.989, RMSEA of 0.045 and SRMR of 0.074. Good internal consistency was observed with a total Cronbach's alpha of 0.91. Thus, the psychometric properties of this study on the SATPRO/Br lead to the conclusion that this version is valid, reliable and presents good internal consistency and stability to be applied in Brazilian elderly people with lower limb amputations.
