Abstract: Testudines are vertebrate animals of extreme importance to the ecosystem due to the ecological functions they play in nature, such as seed dispersal and nutrient cycling. These animals have their reproductive activity influenced by environmental factors, which determine several parameters of this stage of their life cycle, such as hatching success. Several studies have already verified the influence of factors on the reproductive cycle of this group, such as temperature, humidity and sand texture, nest dimensions and beach vegetation. The Amazon turtle (Podocnemis expansa) is a species of Testudines that has a wide distribution, covering several countries in South America. Understanding how these parameters influence the reproduction of these animals in specific nesting areas is of paramount importance so that effective management and conservation strategies can be developed. Thus, the objective of this work is to understand more about the possible influences of the vegetation of the nesting beaches on the reproduction of Testudines, in general, and to verify if there is a relationship between the vegetation and the parameters of the nests, such as depth, sand texture and temperature with the reproductive success of the Amazon turtle on beaches located on the banks of the Araguaia River. For this, a systematic review was carried out regarding the influence of vegetation on the reproduction of Testudines and data from the reproductive periods, from the years 2013 and 2019, within the selected areas on the banks of the Araguaia were used. In the Systematic Review, the studies analyzed investigated the relationship between vegetation and hatching rate, predation rate, spawning site selection, nest incubation temperature, sex ratio, among other parameters. While, in the research with Amazon turtle, none of the parameters evaluated showed a relationship with reproductive success. The depth, therefore, showed a relationship with the total number of eggs in each nest.
