Abstract: This theorethical production had as its main focus on the theorethical connection among studies on ethno-racial identity, childhood, school, family and the Theory of Subjectivity, which was developed by González Rey (2017) that sought to understand the subjective dimension of complex social phenomena resulting in the construction of the psyche in the light of a cultural-historical Psychology. We have made progress in understanding racism and how it has been subjective, historical and culturally constructed in Brazilian social subjectivity, in the individual’s unique upbringing and diverse backgrounds. This study aimed to comprehend the subjective processes which have framed the ethno-racial identity of a black child. Considering her life story and established relationships within the context of family and school interrelationships, we carried out discussions and theoretical approaches to authors such as Hall (2006), Cavalleiro (2006), Bento (2011), Teodoro (2018), Gomes (2018) and Munanga (2009) jointly with González Rey’s Theory of Subjectivity and Qualitative Epistemology and the Constructive-Interpretative Method. In order to achieve the research’s objevtive, a case study was conducted with a eight-year-old student in second grade of elementary school from a public school located in the administrative region of Federal District, Brazil. The manufacturing of the data was carried out by analytical tools which facilitated the participant’s subjective expressions, such as: conversational dynamics, sessions of round-table talks, storytelling through drawings, dramatic games of make-believe, besides live streamings produced by the very child. Through this dialogic and affective interaction, which was developed by the child, we could realized that Arabela experiences how stressful and conflicting the life of a black child can be, in the contradiction between family and school. She has a positive attitude concerning family relationships, although when it comes to school environment, she faces some negative experiences due to her skin colour and hair, which lead to self-silencing behaviour, crying and social isolation resulting in a process of silencing emotional distress. The dialogical relastionship, that was built with the participant, resulted in tensions, realizations, appreciation and the child’s identification with the researcher which estimulated the emergency of new configurations of subjective senses concerning the processes of positive self-identification. This research also enchanced visibility and intelligibility regarding beliefs, values that are interwoven in school social subjectivity as well as in the school professionals’ individual subjectivity which unfolded tensioned dialogues about racism that is promoted, experienced and silenced in school routine. We aknowlegde the tensions and conflicts are an important path in order to produce new ways of subjectivation that may cause individual and social changes. From all that has been studied so far, we suggest that we move forward regarding the theoretical framework of identity as a subjective confuguration and what each person might subjectify racism in a unique way, even it is a macro-structural phenomenon.
