Abstract:	This dissertation aims to investigate the representation of homeless people in online journalism, when news and reports had as main themes the violation of rights and violence. To achieve this, the corpus is composed of texts of free access published in the digital platforms of Correio Braziliense between the years 2014 and 2018. Considering the dialectical relationship between language and society, the analyses were guided by the theoretical-methodological assumptions of Critical Discourse Analysis from the perspective of decolonial studies. In addition, as support for the investigation, the tools provided by the software for the quantitative research NVivo servedfor the encoding of the texts. Based on the codifications carried out with the assistance of the software, it was possible to map relevant information for the research in 310 texts of the most different themes, to, in a later stage, focus on the 59 texts on violation of rights and on the 111 texts on violence presented in this corpus. The microanalysis of texts about violation of rights pointed out that the voices attributed to homeless represented poverty as a lack of income, basic needs and access to services. The representation of the street situation, in turn, in the voices attributed to women in the street situation and in the surrounding authorial voice, occurred in a minority way through speeches that understood the street situation as a violation of rights. On the other hand, it was represented mainly by speeches of blame, naturalization and romanticization. In this context, women on the streets were represented in actions in the fields of acting, having and being in texts that articulated different discourses, such as the efficiency and inefficiency of the State and the demobilization of the homeless population. The microanalysis of texts about violence pointed out that, in texts that there is an association between people on the street and people in situations of drug addiction, residents, workers and local tourists received more discursive space for the spread of their speeches. In this context, people living on the street were represented from social, existential, criminal field and urban space relationships, in addition to minority actions assessed as positive. The microanalysis of the texts of violence also identified texts that included speeches such as the inefficiency of public security agencies and the deprivation of liberty as a means of resocialization. Investigating the representation of homeless people in electronic media texts provided traces for understanding the speeches and other social practices associated with homelessness, a social process that in this essay was investigated through discursive bias.
