| Abstract: | Six reinforced concrete “T” type cross section “slab strips” were tested. The slab strips were cast in situ, and submitted to two top loads, with the objective of studying the behaviour of this type ofstructure with two types ofreinforcement, conventional and welded truss. The “T” section slab strips were 150 mm height, with flange width of 750 mm, spanning over 3100 mm, and the principal variables were the reinforcement type used, conventional with longitudinal bars and vertical stirrups, and welded truss, with the ratio of bending reinforcement equal to 0,18, 0,21 or 0,23%. Ultimate loads, failure types, cracking, deflections, concrete and reinforcement strains are presented, together with comparisons with other results ofthe literature and of ultimate loads estimated by the codes. The rupture type for all slabs were not affected by the different reinforcement ratios utilized in the research. The main reinforcement yielded and big displacements were recorded in all slabs, that reached ultimate limit State by excessive plastic deformations, highlighting an under reinforced type of behaviour. The trussed reinforcement slab strips presented ultimate loads 18% bigger than the conventional ones. |
