Abstract: This work concems about an experimental study of punching shear in prestressed flat slabs with unbonded tendons, aiming to an assessment of the prestressing effects on the ultimate punching shear resistance. The use of the greased cable system, which has been used for many years abroad, is spreading quickly in Brazil due to the advantages that this system offers in comparison to prestressing with bonded tendons. However, some aspects of the behavior of prestressed concrete structures with this system require more studies in order to gain more confidence on its use .The test results of 6 slabs are showed in this work. They were 2000x2000mm; and 120mm of depth, all of them had the same passive bonded reinforcement. The variables were cable profíles, quantity and position of the cables. The slabs were divided in two groups plus a reference slab, called LP1. On the fírst group, straight profile cables was used, in both directions, passing in the middle depth of the slabs LP2 and LP3, in order to study the effects of the in plane forces. On the second one, polygonal profile cables was used in the LP4, LP5 and LP6 slabs, in order to study the effects of the deviation forces. The force applied at the center of the slabs, which simulated the central column, the deflections at some positions, specific deformations on the passive bonded reinforcement, on the prestressing tendons and on the compressed concrete surface, and the prestressing force applied on the tendons were reported. The concrete surface cracks also were plotted. The results were compared to values obtained ffom some codes. A good correlation between those values was found. The tests confirmed conclusions of others researchers, who determined that the in plane force has a small contribution to the punching shear resistance, while the deviation force which has more significant contnbution. The slabs with polygonal profile cables were more ductile in comparison to the others.
