Abstract:	This research project has as its central axis the training of teachers, and as object of study, the university extension as a training space in initial and continuing training, with potential to contribute to the performance and professional practice. With the research theme indicates the meanings and meanings of the University Extension for the Beginner Professor. Having as guiding research problem: What are the meanings and meanings attributed by the beginning teacher to the university extension in the process of constructing the teaching profession? As a general objective, to identify and analyze the meanings and meanings attributed by the beginning teacher, at the State Department and Education of the Federal District, to university extension. In order to understand the object of this research, we have chosen epistemological historical dialectical materialism as a way of understanding concrete reality, social, economic and political relations, as well as the materiality of the historical conditions of object construction. This understanding permeates dialectical pairs: objectivity and subjectivity; appearance and essence; abstract and concrete. Conceiving the structuring processes of teaching work we take the construction of professionality as a basis, from the specificities that distinguish the function of being a teacher, by the historical, social, political, cultural and economic marks. This research has three elementary phases: the first consists of the bibliographical survey with the realization of the state of knowledge, the second by documentary analysis, referring to teacher training and university extension. Finally, semi-structured interviews with participants of extension actions, who are beginning teachers with less than five years of admission to the Education Department of the Federal District. The analysis of the interviews will take place through the nuclei of signification proposed by Aguiar and Ozella (2013). When conducting the analysis of the interviews we arrive at the synthesis of seven nuclei of meaning: Theory and Practice; Political Dimension; Insertion in Teaching; Teaching Experience; University Extension As a Training Space; Articulation Teaching / Research and Extension; What is Extension ?. The results reflect the formative character of the University Extension as an articulating space of teaching and research. For the beginning teachers the extension allows a formation that relates the triad university, school and society, allowing the construction of the professionalism of the teacher, which runs mainly through the senses and meanings of the collective strengthening, the political dimension and the support provided by the extension groups.
