Abstract: Studies about the influence of shear reinforcement in the punching shear resistance of posttensioned flat slabs are incipient. and the analysis of several codes shows that therc are not specific recommendations for post-tensioned flat slabs with shear reinforcement. Therefore. this work aims to investigate the behaviour and strength of post-tensioned flat slabs with unbonded tendons and shear reinforcement. under punching shear, having as main variables area. distribution and number of layers of shear reinforcement and length of column side. Investigations were made by using experimental results obtained from tests of 18 slabs. The tested slabs represented negative moment regions of a slab panei with about 8000mm successive bays in both directions. Ali tested slabs were 3000mm square, 200mm thick and supported by 200mm square column (group '‘L’’) and 250mm square column (group “S"). Post-tensioning reinforcement. with 12 unbonded monostrands CP 190 RB in each direction. post-tensioning force applied in each strand and the flexural reinforcement were constant for ali slabs. The work concludes that the shear reinforcement contributes to increase the resistance and ductility of post-tensioned flat slabs and present proposals of calculation methods for posttensioned flat slabs with shear reinforcement based on adaptations of codes equations: AC1-318 (1999). EC2 (1992). CEB (1990) and/tó-CEB-FIP (1998), NBR-6118 (2003) and decompression method (REGAN. 1985), besides the proposal of adding the verification of punching shear resistance with failure surface Crossing only the first layer of shear reinforcement.
