Abstract:	This proposal results from a research on the educational spaces present in the websites of the Brazilian museums. The objective is to understand how virtual educational spaces are configured technologically, culturally and pedagogically, as well as to clarify if they incorporate technological innovations that indicate a culture of participation. The theoretical and conceptual foundation demands focus on cyber culture, participatory culture, media convergence and interaction. The investigation aimed at recording and analyzing the existence of online pedagogical practices. The research was based on a mixed strategy composed of quantitative and qualitative methods. Firstly, quantitative methods were combined to provide an overview of educational spaces on Brazilian museum websites and the types of available communication resources. Later, we focused on a qualitative analysis of Case Studies of representative cases, especially looking for the presence of online educational practices, seeking to understand the structuring of the educational environments, of the spaces of participation, and a possible reconfiguration of the presential educational work to the virtual environment, besides other questions. The research problem consisted in knowing if the educational webpages of the Brazilian museums on the internet can be considered as alternative learning spaces in tune with a participatory cyber culture, having interaction resources that enable participatory and dialogic educational practices. We conclude that Brazilian museums are not yet part of a participatory culture since they have few educational practices online. However, we have verified the presence of online educational practices already oriented to learning modalities attuned to the digital environment and signaling the potentialities of a participatory culture.
