Abstract: The processing of the fish has originated a great amount of waste that if not destined correctly can be generators of environmental pollution. One of the ways of using these residues is the production of flour and oil to be used as ingredients in animal feed. Due to the high crude protein content and excellent profile of amino acids and fatty acids, fishmeal meal can be a substitute for whole fishmeal, which has high cost and limited availability in diets for carnivorous fish. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of fish meal and oil substitution on residual fish meal and residual fish oil in the diet of pacamã fingerlings (Lophiosilurus alexandri), a research was carried out at the Laboratory of Biotechnology in Aquatic Organisms of the University of Brasília - UnB. Two experiments were carried out in which eight isoproteic and isoenergetic rations with different levels of fish meal substitution were tested for fish residue meal (0, 10, 20 and 30%) with fish oil or fish oil, constituting a 4x2 factorial design. In the first experiment, 192 packaged fry were used, with 12g ± 2.02 live weight distributed in 24 boxes of fiberglass with capacity for 80 liters of water in a recirculation system. The animals were fed for 60 days with the experimental diets and at the end were evaluated the performance indexes and the composition and fatty acid profile of the carcasses. In the second experiment, 8 fish per treatment were used, packed in the same experimental boxes. The fish were fed the same diets, added with chromium oxide as a marker, and underwent 3 periods of fecal collection to determine the digestibility of the diets. At the end of the experiments the feed samples and carcasses were processed and analyzed in the laboratory. After analyzing the obtained results, it was verified that there was no significant difference in the performance parameters and in the composition of the carcasses of the fish fed with the different diets. Regarding the digestibility of the diets, there was no statistical difference between the different types of oils used, however, there was a linear increase in the digestibility with the increase of levels of substitution of fish meal for the fish residue meal. The fatty acid profile observed showed similarity between the different diets, containing the majority palmitic, oleic and linoleic AG and levels of n-3 PUFA analogous to those found in other freshwater fish species. It was concluded that fishmeal meal can replace fish meal in diets for pacman fingerlings by 30% without impairing performance or carcass traits. Fish oil can completely replace fish oil in pacamã diets.
