Abstract:	The current research aims at analyzing how the studies which focus on accounting are being developed. The adopted methodology draws on exploratory and descriptive using the bibliographical and documental research techniques. In order to carry out such study, it has been done a longitudinal research in which articles published in events were examined between 1998 and 2013. The events were the following: Congresso da Associação Nacional de Programas de Pós-graduação em Ciências Contábeis (AnpCONT), Encontro da Associação Nacional de Pós-graduação e Pesquisa em Administração (EnANPAD) and Congresso USP de Controladoria e Contabilidade, and also in national bulletins that hold Qualis-Capes from A1 to B5, according to the Business, Accounting and Tourism assessment lists, dated August 3rd 2013. For the analysis it was used qualitative, quantitative and content analysis approaches, gathering bibliometric index of scientific researches that deal with accounting studies as well as the assessment of researches using sociometry (social networks), while using softwares such as Ucinet® 6 and NetDraw®. It has been analyzed the increase in the number of published articles; the authors; the institutions connected to the authors’ titles; the most productive authors; the approached themes; the changes in articles published in events and later in bulletins; and methodologies; based on Lotka law, the productivity of the most prolific authors was tested, using the non parametric tests Kolmogorov Smirnov and Wilcoxon; at last, researchers’ relationships based on social network analysis. The results have shown that the studies focused on accounting have increased, in lower proportion when it came to bulletins rather than events. However, in both situations the authorship has increased with higher percentage in the 2008 events with 20,44% and bulletins in 2011 with 24,65%. To sum up, the current paper has contributions to the scientific production investigation that deals with accounting research, after presenting how theses studies are being carried out, the dynamics that involve them and the connection between the researchers and their productions done through sociometry (social networks analysis).
