| Abstract: | This study examines the diversity of plants cultivated by families living on the margins and surroundings of river Croa, Jurua alley, state of Acre. It’s objective is to identify the elements that give origin to the biological resources used in agricultural based on the study of the management, use, conservation and diffusion of species and agricultural varieties among inhabitants of the community. Two fieldwork periods were carried out, two months each one. In the field, data on the use and history of the cultivated plants and the mapping of agricultural spaces where these plants occur were surveyed. For the survey of the plants’ history, the construction of a genealogical tree from nineteen families in the community was carried out. This allowed the documentation of the life history of the inhabitants, responsible for the transporting of agricultural biological objects from one place to the other according to the family migration trajectory. Based on the genealogical construction it was possible to reveal the kinships links among inhabitants, which are reflected on the distribution of the houses along the river and consequently in the access to land and biology resources. Among the results, it can be verified that there is a high agricultural biodiversity, especially in the spaces adjacent to the houses, which is represented in its greater part by ornamental plants of different origins. On the other hand, cleared land managed by a slash and burn system are constituted by a more restricted number of species and varieties, even though some plants are conserved within the brush until a new slash and burn cycle. The analysis of the data showed non expected results related to the management of rainha (Psychotria sp.) and jagube (Banisteripsis caapi), used in the production of ayahuasca. These plants of symbolic and religious value represent a significant source of income for the inhabitants of the area. The results allow a diagnoses of the state of the robiodiversity in Croa area and points to the potential changes that may occur in face of the social economic dynamics derived from the pavement of the BR-364 and by the conversion of the area in a extractivist reserve regulating the use of the resources and land occupation. |
