Abstract: | This review article is the first to compile the state of the art on zeolite membranes for natural gas processing. It provides industry context, describes zeolite structure and highlights commonly used compounds. Recent ad vancements in CO2 and N2-selective zeolite membranes significantly improved selectivities and permeances when compared to commercial membranes. The more selective zeolite membranes offer benefits such as reduced energy demand, suggesting lower operations costs. However, further studies are required to assess long-term operation and separation performance in multicomponent systems for commercial deployment of zeolite membranes. Finally, the future perspectives of zeolite membranes for natural gas processing were analyzed. |
