Abstract:	One of the discussions surrounding the conservation of modernist buildings relates to the obsolescence oftheir electrical and air conditioning systems. Updating these systems is essential to ensure that the building ́sfunctionality and meet contemporary usage requeriments, without compromising its essential architecturalattributes. Adaptability, in the context of prefabricated buildings, involves understanding the complexity anduniqueness of their components. Currently, the Comprehensive Care Centers for Children and Adolescents(CAICs), a project developed by João Filgueiras Lima, face these questions, especially because of the electricalequipament and components attached to the prefabricated elements. The objective of this article is toanalyze the adjustments adopted in the processes of updating the electrical and air conditioning systems of aCAIC, currently occupied by UEG Laranjeiras, located in the city of Goiânia. A building inspection was carriedout thought surveys and photographic records. The results highlight the technical solutions employed andthe difficulties faced during the updating of these systems. Some interventions affected the originalprefabricated elements, highlighting the difficulty of replacing parts with similar performance andcharacteristics. It is concluded that most of the solutions adopted are reversible and do not affect theessential attributes of the modernist building.
