| Abstract: | Underground excavations, part ofthe Brasilia Metro located in the Pilot Plan were performed following modem perspectives of tunnelling in urban environment: the ground control. Many surface and subsurface sustructures of the city affected the design and construction decisions. Many of these decisions were taken empirically due to the non existence of analytical methods for the necessary analyses. The tunnel was builded by the NATM and executed in a particular ground, the colapsible porous clay of Brasilia, which has large void ratios. The tunnelling process promoted a better understanding of the behaviour ofthis soil and motivated many studies for analysing and improving the design and control methods. This dissertation presents a study of the induced displacements due to tunnelling, and as a consequence, induced damage to buidings. The aplication of a analitical method for induced displacement due to tunnelling is also presented. Besides to a description of the construction methods is done, concerning its aplication to urban environments, as well as a sumary of the ground control measures that can be adopted to minimise damage. |
