Abstract:	The socio-educational measure of internment represents the State's response to holding young people accountable for offenses deemed serious. The measure itself encompasses both a punitive aspect, characterized by the deprivation of freedom, and a pedagogical one, which provides socio-educational interventions aimed at safeguarding the rights of these young individuals. These interventions should be implemented according to an individual care plan (PIA). The primary objective of the present research was to examine how young people deprived of their freedom within a socio-educational internment facility in the Federal District (DF) have exercised their right to participate in the formulation and monitoring of their PIAs. The research specifically sought to: 1) identify how the political-pedagogical project of the socioeducational measure of internment in the DF, along with the manual of socioeducational care, addresses and guides the development of the PIA process aimed at facilitating participation of incarcerated youth participation; 2) understand the lived experiences of young people undergoing the socioeducational measure of internment; 3) determine how young people engage in the creation of their individual care plans, and how they perceive the purpose of this instrument in the context of fulfilling the measure. The research adopted an exploratory and qualitative approach, deploying individual narrative interviews and a group conversation with young people deprived of their freedom within a socio-educational internment unit in the DF. The data collection process was supplemented by a documentary analysis of the politicalpedagogical project of the socio-educational measure of internment, the manual of socioeducational care, and the PIAs of the young participants in the research. Data analysis and interpretation were carried out through thematic analysis. The research findings revealed that the guiding documents for socio-educational care do not provide concrete instructions on how to ensure the active involvement of young people in the development of their PIAs, merely suggesting individual counseling sessions as the primary source for participation. Consequently, the participation of young people in the creation of the instrument is largely symbolic, as they lack the autonomy to articulate their needs within the main discussion forums, and do not wield decision-making power in the negotiation of the goals and actions that will be incorporated into PIA. Furthermore, the study identified an absence of participatory spaces where young people can express themselves and take a stance on matters concerning their rights and the socio-educational activities implemented during their internment. Regarding their experiences with the internment measure, they viewed access to education and vocational training as positive aspects, while the deprivation of freedom itself and lack of opportunities to be heard and have their needs and demands addressed were perceived negatively.
