Abstract: Even after the end of the public health emergency, decreed by the WHO in May 2023, COVID-19 continues to pose a threat to public health, thus governments and academic institutions continue to struggle to contain the disease. The idea for developing this work arose in the context of the new coronavirus pandemic, given the challenge of continuing studies in nanotechnology without carrying out laboratory experiments. The work proposes to evaluate the scientific and technological scenario of nanotechnology application to develop alternatives for COVID-19 combat, based on analysis of bibliometric indicators of articles and patents, published in the period from 2019 to 2023. The Systematic Literature Network Analysis-Patents method (SLNA-P) was used; data were collected from Scopus and Espacenet databases; and bibliometric mapping and statistical analysis were performed using the VOSviewer software. To define the search terms, several descriptors were analyzed; citation analysis was used to select the most relevant works and define the central themes of researches; and the most influential countries were mapped, in terms of performance and collaboration network, through co-authorship analysis. Processing and data evaluation allowed to infer that articles and patents focus on 3 main themes exploration (vaccines, antivirals and biosensors), however, they differ in terms of the central points of research and the publications pattern evolution. Vaccines are the emergent topic on nanotechnology to combat COVID-19; and United States are the greatest scientific and technological influence country in the world on the subject, while having the highest number of COVID-19 victims to date. Based on the discussed results, the work concludes that there is a trend towards an increase in the number of patents and a reduction in the scientific articles publication in the field of nanotechnology (following the reduction in the number of pandemic victims); although its growth, there is still a lack of bibliometric data interpretation’s application for development of social and health policies; and, finally, the development of surfaces formed by nanoparticles with aseptic properties is a promising topic for future research and creations in nanotechnology for COVID-19 management.
