Abstract: Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death in Brazil and in the world, ischemic heart disease is the main one, and the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors has increased with the aging of the population. The number and severity of coronary lesions, in addition to left ventricular function, are important factors in the prognosis of coronary artery disease. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the construction of a set of information about the profile of the population assisted with a diagnosis of coronary artery disease and to evaluate the mortality of patients assisted in the Unified Health System of Brasília-DF. Methods: The medical records and procedure reports of patients with coronary artery disease who underwent invasive coronary angiography (ICA) between January 2013 and December 2015 were reviewed. The occurrence of death was verified in the evolution by consulting the Computerized Mortality System (SIM). Results: A total of 5,520 patients underwent invasive coronary angiography and 1.961 did not meet the admission criteria for the study. Of these, 59.8% were male. Acute coronary syndrome represented 66.8% of the sample and the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus was reported in 31.9% of patients. The option for clinical treatment was adopted in 57.7% of the patients, percutaneous coronary intervention in 30.7% and the surgical procedure was performed in 11.8% of the patients. Overall mortality was 12.3%. One hundred and forty-three patients with extensive coronary artery disease accounted for 31.7% of all deaths. In this group, clinical treatment was associated with higher mortality. Conclusions: Overall mortality was 12.3%. This mortality was higher in the presence of diabetes mellitus and changes in left ventricular contractility. Extensive coronary artery disease was associated with higher mortality when clinical treatment was the therapeutic option.
