| Abstract: | Work is a relevant activity in people's lives, because it is associated with survival, and is also directly related to the development of society as a whole, through the production of goods, services, and knowledge. Dealing with new perspectives and changes is a natural characteristic in the world, and this is true for all species, including human beings. In the world of work, adaptation is also a reality similar to nature and requires people's resilience and flexibility. Considering this pressure suffered by workers due to the constant demands of the world of work, since the 1970s, research on quality of work life began to emerge, placing the social responsibility of organizations as the central point and considering the need to provide a balance between people's work and lives, with a view to productivity and well-being from the workers' perspective. Within this context and taking into account that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Covid-19 pandemic in the year 2020, several countries, including Brazil, adopted measures to prevent the coronavirus contagion and the main measure was the social isolation through quarantines decreed in several nations. Thus, the Distrito Federal decreed isolation measures and the University of Brasília (UnB) urgently implemented remote work (telework) in March 2020 as a measure of continuity of administrative activities. Based on the above, this study aimed to describe the perception of Quality of Life in Telework by public servants, technicians and professors, working in the Dean's Office, in the Vice-Rector's Office and in the eight Deanships, which are areas of strategic management in the institution. For this, a theoretical survey was conducted on Productive Restructuring, Human Cost of Work, Wellbeing and Ill-being at Work, Quality of Work Life (QWL), Activity Ergonomics Applied to QWL and aspects of Telework. This is a quantitative/qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, also defined as a case study, considering the unique context of the pandemic. In order to achieve the results, the Telework Quality of Life Scale was applied to a sample of 149 technicians and professors in ten sectors. Through the descriptive results obtained, perceptions of well-being were found in the factors: Self-Management of Telework, Context of Telework, Work Infrastructure and Technological Structure. In the Workload factor, the results indicated perceptions of ill-being, which is a critical point to be observed by the management. The qualitative analysis demonstrated, in turn, as negative points the lack of rules on working hours, generating dissatisfaction with demands at any time of the day, work overload, greater demand for results, social isolation, as well as uncertainties about how long there would be telework implemented during the pandemic. The positive points show that there are perceptions about better quality of life, closeness to the family, reduced stress from not having to commute to work, autonomous hours, flexibility and a healthier lifestyle. |
