Abstract:	The militarization of public schools in Brazil is not a recent phenomenon, it dates back to the late 1990s and is taking place in the wake of neoconservative changes that affect Brazilian education. Linked to the supposed quality of the military career school, a sui generis institution that does not follow the rules or objectives of the public education system, in 2019, the government of the Federal District, through Joint Ordinance No. 01/2019, began implementation of the “Shared Management” project in public schools in partnership with the Military Police and the Military Fire Department, despite Law 4,751/2012 on the Democratic Management of the Public Teaching System in the Federal District. With this instrument begins the process of Military Police and Military Firefighters becoming responsible for part of the school management of eleven public schools with regard to the management of school discipline. Given this scenario, the general objective of this research was to analyze the implications of militarization in the practice of the principal in the management of the political-pedagogical project of a public school in the DF, which unfolded into the following specific objectives: a) identify the modifications generated by militarization in the school's PPP; b) understand the perceptions expressed by the pedagogical coordinators, the pedagogical supervisor and the teachers about the practice of the principal in the management (design, development, monitoring and evaluation) of the PPP in a militarized school; c) to apprehend the mediations made by the school principal to guarantee the principles of democratic management in the project of the militarized school; and d) understand the principal's perceptions about her praxis in the PPP management of a militarized school. From a theoretical-methodological point of view, the research was supported by the assumptions of historical dialectical materialism, with a qualitative approach of the case study type, based on a theoretical framework based on critical authors. The organization of data and the generation of analysis categories were carried out by Content Analysis. In the analysis process, data from documents and interviews were triangulated, articulated with the theoretical field and mediated by the movement of events in the social reality in which the manager's praxis is developed. The abstraction of the reality of a militarized school reveals a complex and contradictory totality. The research results reveal that, due to the lack of structural conditions and the precariousness of teaching work, the principal's praxis is theoretically based on the hegemonic common sense of the ruling classes and justified by the militarization of school management, which caused changes in the political project. the school's pedagogical aspects and in the mediations carried out by the principal to guarantee the principles of democratic management. Furthermore, the arguments used by the government for the militarization of schools in the DF do not hold up.
