Abstract:	This investigation aimed to analyze the character Arlequina in order to understand her construction, representation and her pedagogical power when teaching aspects related to the female gender and sexuality. To achieve the objective of this investigation, the theoretical framework transited between Education of Visual Culture and Sequential Art (comic books) even to Feminist Theories and Sexualities, from these theories it was possible to delimit the categories of analysis, which were the "gender performativity" formulated by Butler (2005), the “epistemology of the closet” coming from the studies of Sedgwick (2007) and “abjection” elaborated by Kristeva (1941). The research took place on the Bricolage methodology and the analysis of the character Arlequina was carried out using the “PROVOQUE” method to disclose the discourses of gender and sexuality during the construction of character's imagery, and reveal her pedagogical power. It was possible to identify the pedagogical power of the comic books, especially in the construction and representation of Arlequina, because her image and narrative tend to lead how the female gender should be experienced in society, note that the comic book is an artifact of itstime being a mirror that at the same time reflects its society also changes it. In some comic books Arlequina teaches and reinforces paradigms of a sexist and heteronormative society, but in others she teaches and propagates an emancipated feminine, doing so she enables a progression of the look on the socially constructed conceptions of gender and sexualities.
