Abstract:	The Masonic historical heritage was built over the Order's 200 years of existence in Brazilian lands. More specific to the Grand Orient of Brazil, an institution that manages a Freemasonry at a national level, preserves an archival, bibliographical and museological heritage of historical relevance in two distinct institutions: Lavradio Masonic Palace, located in Rio de Janeiro, and Ariovaldo Vulcano Masonic Museum, in Brasilia. Nevertheless, there are case studies that seek to understand how actions of the Masonic historical heritage, as well as the constitution of collections in museums, safeguarding documents and storing and disseminating information by these institutions, these items are collected over the period of use of the Masonic lodges and management institutions. Thus, there are questions about which are the Masonic museums and the collections that have been preserved throughout its almost 200 years of existence. This dissertation aims to understand the formation process of the Masonic Museum in the context of the Grand Orient of Brazil in the period from 1906 to 1978. Thus, it seeks to contextualize the universe of museums and the Masonic collections; to investigate the institutional process of formation of the museum and, finally, to investigate the formation of the museum's collection. To understand this object, a descriptive study proposal was chosen. To this end, a qualitative research approach will be used, using as a methodological procedure bibliographic review and survey and research and analysis of documents related to the institutional collection of the Grande Oriente do Brasil, among bulletins, newspapers, catalogs, legislation and constitutive documents of the institution . This research identified several actions taken by the managers of the Grand Orient of Brazil in an attempt to structure and organize a Masonic Museum, as well as to form its collection.
