Abstract:	This dissertation studies the occurrences of laringalization in prosodic and discursive border environments. The analysis was made from a corpus of spontaneous talking in Brazilian Portuguese, in order to follow studies patterns that have been using this type of corpus, besides from allowing the analysis of the text to be done online. As a theoretical basis, it starts from a textual-interactive perspective of the text (JUBRAN, 2006), which sees the discourse as done online, which is, the members of a dialogue build their texts from the interlocutors who surround them and the intention that guides them. It is also of serious value the G&S Model (GROSZ & SIDNER, 1986), which is part of the same assumptions from the above-mentioned perspective and presents a computational model in order to propose a path to segmentation of the discourse, thus allowing us to reach the discursive boundaries that interest us in this work. In addition, the Couple-oscilator Model of Speech Rhythm, proposed by Barbosa (2006), which theorizes that the production of oral discourse is based from two coupled oscillators (one accentuated and the other syllabic), is also an important support for our research. The objectives of this research are: 1) to investigate the possible relationship between prosodic and discursive borders and the phenomenon of laringalization in spontaneous talking in Brazilian Portuguese; 2) to research the possible relationship between discursive boundaries and the phenomenon of laryngalization in spontaneous speech in Brazilian Portuguese; 3) to discuss the improvement of the Model of Speech Rhythm. The hypothesis of this dissertation is that the discursive boundaries would act as attractors of the laringalization phenomenon together with the prosodic borders, the latter already pointed out as attractors of laringalization by Lima-Gregio (2011). This relationship would happen, based on the assumptions of the Couple-oscilator Model of Speech Rhythm, within the scope of the accentuated oscillator. The results indicate a significant relationship between the laringalization and the occurrence of discursive boundaries, as well as corroborate the studies by Lima-Gregio (2011) regarding the pointing out that the prosodic borders would attract laringalization. The hypothesis of a glottal oscillator would be on the scope of the accentuated oscillator appears to be legitimate, however, additional research is needed to determine its exact location within the Couple-oscilator Model of Speech Rhythm scheme.
