Abstract:	Maria Graham's visual production is related to the dissemination of books and prints associated with travel and natural history. Besides, his work is part of the circulation of objects of material culture and reflects the British public's economic and aesthetic interest for the tropics. During the first half of the 19th century, networks of intellectuals participated in the dissemination of natural collections, images, and information about Brazil. Although Maria Graham's production is relevant to the study of 19th century Brazil's iconographic documentation, analyzes of these works are still scarce. Given this, this thesis deals with the work of Graham from the collections of the British Museum, the Royal Botanic Gardens, and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP), works relevant to the study of traveling artists who were in Brazil during the first half 19th century. These collections stand out for hosting numerous and diverse Graham’s works. At the British Museum, there are drawings produced during Graham's travels to India, Italy, Brazil, and Chile are preserved. The MASP collection contains a panorama of the city of Rio de Janeiro, one of the artist's only oil paintings. These are works that represent landscapes and reveal aspects of the production of illustrations for travel books. In these Graham works, the presence of the models of writing and visual registration propagated by Alexander von Humboldt, as well as the images disseminated by the illustrated scientific culture, is also noted. In the Royal Botanic Gardens, there are botanical illustrations made by Graham that are preserved during his third trip to Brazil, in 1825. This collection shows the influence of the models of documentation of the plants present in manuals, florilegium, and publications of botany. Maria Graham's work is analyzed from a wide circulation network of objects that can include public demands, publishing, and scientific and aesthetic assumptions.
