Abstract:	In order to carry out a diagnostic analysis of work relationships as presented in Brazil at the time of dissemination of the COVID-19, the research goes through the identification of five paradoxes highlighted and enhanced by the pandemic, that reveal asymmetries present in the world of work. The first of them is manifested in the contrast between the importance and the need for human work, reinforced by the new viral crisis, and the precarious dynamics of labour relations. Then there is the paradox related to undocumented immigrant workers, who, being in a situation considered irregular, despite globalization, are subjected to degrading working conditions, with restricted access to basic rights. Third, there is some visibility given to jobs that were previously invisible and devalued, such as domestic work, urban cleaning and delivery services through online applications. The fourth paradox refers to the opposition between social setback and technological advance present in “uberized” labour relations. Finally, there is a fifth paradox, related to teleworking, which, although it gains prominence with the pandemic for allowing social isolation, presents risks of work deterioration. From this study emerges the challenge to come up with solutions to the crisis and to project a future for the world of work for which it is worth fighting for.
