Abstract:	Since 2016, the year in which we observed the controversial impeachment process of the president Dilma Rousseff (PT), analyses in Brazilian political science have pointed out to a process of “de-democratization” in Brazil, or, even, of the country’s entry into a “post-democratic” context. Pointing out the limits of these concepts of Eurocentric orientation to the analysis of the Brazilian reality, we opted for the use of the term “de-democratization” in the sense attributed by Aníbal Quijano, as a complex process of exacerbating the effects of structures of domination and violence over the population of the global peripheries, supported and legitimized by liberal democratic institutions. More specifically, we emphasize that the neoliberal de-democratization has as its fundamental element the renewed overexploitation of work, the axis of accumulation in peripheral capitalism. Looking at the Brazilian case, we’ve identified evidence of this process in the approval of the Spending Ceiling (Teto de Gastos), Labor Reform (Reforma Trabalhista), Unrestricted Outsourcing (Terceirização Irrestrita) and Retirement Pension Reform (Reforma da Previdência), which legalize and legitimize the increasingly brutal exploitation of workers in the country. Finally, we argue that these legal changes, although part of a more general and systemic movement, have a frontal and renewed radical impact on the survival capacity and quality of life of many Brazilians, significantly accelerating and exerting trends in the current phase of the world’s capitalism and its peripheral dependence.
