Abstract:	This study focuses on understanding the concept of digital curation, in the context of the management and preservation of digital archival records, taking into account the development of Archival Science in the 21st century and the advancement of technological innovations that have influenced the production, preservation and access to digital records. The general objective is to identify and analyze in the archival literature the approach to the concept of digital curation and its possible contributions to the creation, preservation and access to digital archival records. The methodology used is descriptive, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, based on inductive logical investigation, based on a systematic review of the literature on the subject in scientific communication in the area of Archival Science. The time frame covers the first eighteen years of the 21st century, when the term digital curation is studied, disseminated and applied in several areas of knowledge. In order to meet the objectives of this research, a survey and analysis of articles on the subject was carried out in Brazil and in the main international journals in the area, checking the arguments presented in the archival literature for the use or not of the concept of digital curation and establishing a comparative table of the results. from the selected authors. It is concluded that digital curation arose from some unmet demands for digital preservation, and that there are certain misunderstandings between the concepts due to the fact that both have similar study objects. However, as shown in the research, digital curation and digital preservation are different but complementary concepts.
