Abstract: The riparian zones of the Cerrado have been constantly degraded, changing the physical, chemical, and biological relationships in aquatic environments. For zooplankton, the quality of the environment is crucial, as they respond to environmental changes. In addition, some studies have shown that zooplankton can have a vertical distribution in a nictemeral cycle or change in the distribution pattern in the water column throughout the day, so that they can vary between different times and depths. All of these adaptations are important for exploring better resources and for escaping predation. Thus, the present study aims to: (i) evaluate the effects of the landscape, environmental characteristics and anthropic changes on zooplanktonic communities in streams in the Silvânia National Forest (FLONA) and surroundings; (ii) to identify the nictemeral vertical migration patterns of the zooplankton community and to identify the intervening factors in such process in Lago Dumbá Grande, in the Araguaia River basin. For streams, none of the data sets was identified as explaining the structure and variability of the zooplantonic community. Thus, local redistribution caused by unpredictable disturbances may have introduced a stochastic component in species in streams. In the lake Dumbá Grande, vertical migration nictemeral was demonstrated as an important strategy for most groups belonging to the zooplankton community.
