Abstract:	This stage depicts as a source of study a set of xavante narratives produced in interviews with elderly narrators of the Parabubure and São Marcos Indigenous Lands about the established contacts with the "whites", throughout the 1940s and 1950s, and during the demarcations of the xavante lands, in the 1970s. Starting from a questioning over the knowledge coloniality existing in the Brazilian historiography, it is clear the importance of histories and the indigenous peoples own memories, as well as the questioning about the legal guardianship and the disciplinary practices applied to the Xavante communities. Methodologically, the corpus of this research, obtained through Oral History techniques, was submitted to a type of analysis that is part of the field of Cultural History, due to the attention given to the conditions of speeches productions and representations that reveal the stories of indigenous narrators. According to the ethnographic studies, it is aimed to discuss the representations about the "whites" (their merchandise and diseases), the inter-ethnic and inter-community conflicts in the period that preceded the first contact with the "whites", as well as some of the main migrations experienced by the Xavante in their history: the one that led the group to abandon the lands of Goiás, in the nineteenth century, and settle in Eastern Mato Grosso and the one that made them flee the region of Parabubure towards the Salesian mission of Meruri, in the 1950s. Still are studied in this thesis the struggles representations undertaken by the Xavante over the demarcation of their lands in 1970, focusing on the transformations faced by indigenous communities during decades of intense conflicts and negotiations with the "whites." Through dialogues with postcolonial and decolonial studies, the aim is to construct a "dissident history", divergent from the hegemonic and Eurocentric models of producing historical knowledge about indigenous peoples.
