Abstract:	This work describes design and analysis plastic methods of Steel plane frames, with respect to static action of fixed and repeated variable Ioading. Optimum weights of structures are obtained with application of the theory of minimum weight design and the minimum norm solution, based on the type of the loads, to compare the response of each criterion. The load factors that correspond to limit States are determined for either fixed or variable loads. Examples of application are solved and, for these, the variation of results of the design and analysis are computed when the nonlinear second order forces, the Rankine-Merchant failure load, the axial-bending interaction in the choice of Steel profiles and the constructive form factors of these profiles are considered. The effect of the structure discretization on the solution of the minimum euclidian norm is available too. The abstract of the theory presented is the base to the implemented Computer programs, that helps the structural engineers in their tasks. The programs that need Solutions of mathematical programming problems, make use of an interface with subprograms ofthe software MTNOS (Modular In core Nonlinear Optimization System), in order to solve the presented formulation.
