Abstract:	This research aims to examine the relationships between residential verticalization and urban configuration. The project is supported by the Theoryof Space Syntax. In its process of development, humanity needs a physical environment by which to go about its activities and encounters spacial realities; barriers and openings as limitations and possibilities for movement. Societies transform themselves and transform their architecture so that it better meets social needs, which makes an impression on the architectural aspects of culture and history. I reflect upon the evolution of densification in a region of the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, by vertical residential buildings (VRBs), investigating recurring patterns in their location on the Street network and how social processes influence these urban formations. Proposals of the Theory of Space Syntax were considered, such as the virtuous cycle of architecture, stimulated by the logic of natural movement, and the generic city. The theory's variables used to measure potential streets, such as VRB attractors, were Global Integration, Global Choice and Local Integration. Although other aspects also demonstrated an effect on the positioning of VRBs in the city, the results showthat repeated urban configuration patterns exist. Finally, we evaluate the configuration's performance in the face of the real estate boom experienced in Belo Horizonte between 2008 and 2014, analyzing how it may have influenced the existing architectural order. In reality the boom caused little interference, if not the acceleration of a process of architectural transformations that was already occurring, demonstrating alignment between the architectural order and hegemonic social order.
