Abstract: Understanding the biological dynamics (how it behaves in the environment, its composition) in face of different environmental, local, and deforestation patterns in regions close to water bodies are relevant for advancing the understanding of the anthropic impacts on the various aquatic ecosystems. In addition, species distribution depends on interactions (e.g. biotic, abiotic, historical, biogeographic factors), environmental and spatial, determinants of colonization and extinction of organisms, and shape the structure of the community. Therefore, it was evaluated (i) the effect of spatial complexity on species richness, organism density and zooplankton composition adhered to artificial aquatic macrophytes; (ii) the influence of landscape and environmental (limnological and structural) characteristics on the dynamics of the spatial distribution of the zooplankton community in relation to the variation in two hydrological periods (flood and drought). Each objective was dismembered in a chapter. In the first chapter, an experiment was carried out in a natural lagoon with the purpose of evaluating the colonization of the organisms in artificial aquatic plants with two complexity factors and two types of arrangement. In the second chapter, we investigated the influence of forest cover and physicochemical characteristics of streams on zooplankton communities in southeastern Amazonia. With this, we verified that (i) the composition of the zooplankton groups presented variation in correspondence to each treatment. Despite this, simple and colonial complex leaf arrangements presented similar compositions for all groups. Generally, complex leaves had higher values of density and richness of organisms. Showing that variability within the environment can be determinant in the richness, abundance, and density of zooplanktonic organisms; (ii) Environmental and spatial variables did not have a significant effect on the structure of zooplankton communities in streams, which may indicate the strong influence of stochastic factors.
