Abstract:	The socio-historical formation of Brazilian society was erected by a set of moral values about bodies, genders, sexualities and behaviors of individuals, which were determined to be the unequivocal pattern of what it is to be a man or a woman. Thus, historically, nonheterosexual people were strongly repressed, invisible, dead and considered abnormal. Currently, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transvestites and transsexuals (LGBT) still have precarious lives because they do not meet the hegemonic standards established throughout history. Brazil is representative in this regard since it is considered one of the countries that least guarantees LGBT rights to life. From these verifications, this thesis analyzes the body as the central target of the violations and considers the abjection of it as the prime factor of hatred and the erasure of the lives in question. This narrative departs from four murder investigations and the subsequent judicial phase: the first narrative discusses two transvestites in the city of Novo Gama (GO); the second discusses an eight-year-old boy in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) who was considered effeminate; and the third discusses an assumedly gay man in Montes Claros (MG). The analysis was based on criminal proceedings, and sought to identify the police and legal institutions speeches, as well as the murderers’ motivations and, in particular, the vilification and abjection of their bodies. The result of this investigation identified the violence against LGBT as systemic; in other words, it produces its own system based on hierarchical unique factors of gender identity and sexual orientation. Another point made here is the need and importance of approaching the abjection concept to sociological studies, bringing it closer to more social, historical and political elements. Identifying the abjection of LGBT bodies, as a historical and systemic construct, enriches the sociological debate in this field, particularly when observing the existence of an analytical slide from the centrality of the abject body to the abject behavior, from the State view of these bodies. Contemporary legal institutions, expressed by the democratic State, are able to protect the LGBT body to a certain extent, and to punish those who strike them. However, legal institutions cannot identify the abjection of these abject behaviors and end up yielding to the condemnation of victims, since there is a strong attack against such behaviors, which has not been overcome, even by legal advances.
