Abstract:	Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) are a highly feasible option to ensure sustainable food production. To optimize this type of option, the use of soil remineralizers (rock powders), applied in the implantation of agroecosystems, facilitates the supply of nutrients and improves the development of plant species inserted in the System. The combination of these two technologies or agroecological practices favors the growth of plant species and the increase of capture and retention of atmospheric CO2. With the purpose of ascertaining this potentiality, the present research carried out a case study in four properties located in the Federal District, which use SAFs as production model, all installed three years ago. The study compared the extent to which management practices and the use of remineralizers during the installation of these systems contributed to the chemical and physical improvement of soil quality and the increase in CO2 retention performed by previously selected tree individuals. Soil analyzes (20 cm samples) and carbon sequestration inventories were performed in ten individuals of three key species in each SAF (avocado, coffee, eucalyptus, jaca, baru and jatobá). Of the four areas studied, only SAF 1 did not use rock dust in the implementation of the area. Two other areas, SAF 2 and 3, used the remineralizer derived from a calcoxist (Remix) and SAF 4 used MB-4 (serpentinite). An analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey test were performed to verify the occurrence of differences between soil nutrient contents, in samplings that occurred at the beginning and at the end of the study. In order to verify the vegetal growth, the variation of the Diameter at the Height of the Chest (DAP) was followed, which resulted in the value of biosolid accumulation, of carbon and the fixation of CO2. At the end of the study it was possible to show that the Agroforestry Systems, associated to the Rochagem technology, contribute in an effective way to alter the fertility and soil quality indexes. It was found that the development of SAFs was more expressive in those who used the rock powder, thus enabling the development of more vigorous plants that are able to increase their capture and retention potential of CO2. The plants that stood out the most in the atmospheric carbon retention are fast growing species.
