Abstract:	This dissertation identified and analyzed the elements that characterize the pedagogy of engagement from local intervention projects (PIL) in the context of the continuing education of teachers in Youth and Adult Education through the Distance Learning modality. The research in question had as a reference eight of the intervention projects which were elaborated in the III Specialization Course on Diversity and Citizenship, with emphasis on EJA (2014-2015). It was a course the focus of which went beyond the certification of the students, seeking the change of a certain reality through the intervention proposed in the PIL, aiming to disseminate and give continuity to the intervention’s actions towards these realities. The relationship between the intervention projects and the life background of the individuals involved is highlighted, showing that the pedagogy of engagement in the project perspective has a direct relation with the engagement of the students in their daily basis, which implies active attitudes and actions towards the society, as well as the relationship with the political-pedagogical and methodological dimension, with innovative practices. It is understood that the success of these interventions or otherwise, as well as the intention to continue execution to the PILs, is related to the engagement of the students in the political-pedagogical scope and the praxis. Therefore, it was possible to map, through a semi-structured interview, the students' conceptions of education based on their professional and educational affinities, to identify the presuppositions of an engagement pedagogy and also to analyze the limits and potentialities of pedagogical practices of engagement through intervention projects of Distance Learning courses. The research was developed through a case study from Yin (2005) and has a qualitative character. The hub of the research regarding the pedagogy of engagement and praxis was based on authors such as Paulo Freire (1979, 1981, 1992, 1996, 2005), Damasceno (1990) and Vázquez (2011). Belloni (2003), CTAR (2004), Machado (2008) and Soares (2006) were the main references in the Youth and Adult Education, Distance Learning Education and teacher training. The hub that dealt with Local Intervention Projects was based on documents from the three versions of the specialization course and authors such Rego; Souza and Vieira (2014). It is concluded that the presuppositions of the pedagogy of engagement are present in the intervention projects insofar as those have significance in the apprentices who are in the process of human development and evidence as an instrument of struggle for social change. As a result, the presuppositions of the pedagogy of engagement are shown as being potentially capable of transforming reality.
