Abstract:	In this thesis, we focus on the formation of gender identity and how this relates to a sexual division of labor, giving rise to what we call the alienation of gender; our focus is on women working mothers who do technical training. We are grounded in the historical-dialectical materialism of Marx and Engels and in the psychoanalysis of Freud and Lacan. We understand that human beings constitute themselves in a historical and social process, in which work is a central elemento, and which acts on the formation of the unconscious. It is in this sense that we speak of a capitalist unconscious. The relationship between genders is not dictated by biological principles, but is rather social and historical and reflects the social structure in which it is inserted, which involves the relations of production and reproduction in the capitalist system. Women are marked by a double oppression: the oppression of the system itself and that of the sexual division of labor. Professional education has taken many forms throughout the history of Brazil, but the division of social classes and gender is a constant. Recently, reformulations have been made to foster a critical and emancipatory technical education. Our objective in this research is to understand how women mothers, workers and students of professional education form and experience their gender identity, considering that this is influenced by the sexual division of labor constituent of a capitalist unconscious. Our thesis is that the unconscious of the subjects immersed in this system, thus constituted, provides symbolic-affective contents for the constitution of its gender identity, formed in a binary and rigid way with respect to the performance of the so-called productive and reproductive work, as well as associated personality traits. Thus, the subjects are restricted in their creative potential in the constitution of their gender identity, a phenomenon we call gender alienation. This research was carried out with seven students of the technical course in secretariat of the São Sebastião Campus of the Federal Institute of Brasilia. At the beginning of the survey, the students were between 26 and 65 years old. We used two devices for our research. The first one was the method formulated by Michael Balint for the analysis of the professional practices, that consists in groups in which the researcher allows the circulation of the speech. We held four meetings when the students attended the first semester of the course. After the students complete the course, we talked to five of the seven participants individually. An interpretative analysis of the stories was made from a psychoanalytic reading of the processes of psychic elaboration, considering the presence of the unconscious and the significant chains produced. In the speech of these women, it is clear how they are subjected to the rigid sexual division of the labor constituent of the capitalist system. This condition alienates them from a creative potential for the constitution of gender identity itself. Participants reported uncertainty and helplessness as they became mothers. Her conflicting feelings about her children attest to the unnatural character of motherhood. Regarding the technical training, it was observed that the motivations to do and to stay in the course were diverse and complex. A formation that ignores this is a formation that is based on a superficial and dichotomous understanding of a human being that does not hold.
