Abstract:	Urbanity is an attribute that urban space can have to welcome, promote or facilitate the coexistence, as well as the exchanges between different people, for different reasons and at different times. The configuration of the city, is able to "send" invitations so that people use the urban space in a socially dynamic way, favoring urbanity. The present research was based on these premises and contemplated the investigation of configurational attributes in limited human settlements, trying to understand to what extent the human limits (natural or mixed) can induce such characteristics. The selected sample was structured in three analytical levels, explored in different degrees of detail, with emphasis on the interpretation of the city of Afuá (PA / Brazil). At level 1 the macroscopic reading of 23 urban systems was developed based on the strategies recommended by Gondim (2014) and Medeiros (2013). The analysis was based on the variables associated to Space Theory of Social Logic applied to axial models (lines), focusing on the performance of settlements regarding accessibility, which is the first step towards the promotion of urbanity. At this level the objective was to verify if there is a configurational pattern in limited cities. In Level 2, the convex spaces (planes) were read, with emphasis on permanence, which corresponds to the second step for the invitation to urbanity. The local analysis of 5 cities was based on the production of Jacobs (2000), Holanda (2002; 2013) and Gehl (2013), in order to evaluate to what extent the configuration associated to the existence of limits restrains the levels of urbanity. Level 3, aimed at understanding how space mediates the meetings, sought to clarify if the configuration of the urban space of Afuá issues invitations that affect levels of urbanity. In this phase, the counting data were correlated with the results of the syntactic variables evaluated in the previous levels for the city of Afuá. The findings pointed out that boundaries indirectly affect urbanity, that is, within a complex perspective with several intermediate elements. Sample analysis demonstrated that the boundaries generate certain types of pattern according to their constitution and that they in turn produce a more dispersed or more compact mesh type. It is the compaction, ultimately, that promotes the morphological characteristics that affect the levels of urbanity.
