Abstract:	Exploratory study on the Internet on the matter regarding the situation of indigenous information in Brazil and other nations of Latin America and the Caribbean. A bibliographical research was made first in order to know the evolution of the literary production on indigenous studies since the beginning until the period of formalization with the creation of Postgraduate courses in Brazil. The formation of all legislative body originated with the first laws emitted by the Portuguese and Spanish Crowns for the indians were also considered as well as the legal situation that happened in 20thcentury with the new Constitutional devices of Latin American and Caribbean countries and the diverse international instruments that diverse organizations as UN (United Nations) have developed in support of the indigenous issue. Various America Indigena Magazine issues, as the main representative of American Indigenous society, were analised together with the Inter-American Indigenous Congresses available in the FUNAI Library, aiming detect the interest that since then has already been developing the formation of a macro system for the regularization, control and sharing of the indigenous information produced in the continent. The exploratory study in the Internet intended to observe the present state of the indigenous information given by Museums, which gather the most diversified manifestations of indigenous cultures; a selection of the Latin American region units was accomplished, observing and comparing the use of Internet resources for a widespread sharing of the indigenous information. It also gave the knowledge on the space conquered by the indigenous groups with the known Indigenous Networks in the Internet, which offer a series of services. The study carried through in the FUNAI Documentation Center (National Indigenous Foundation) had as purpose to know the reality of an organization with its path in the handling of the indigenous problems in Brazil, as the first one that assumed the indigenous politics in a governmental level. To observe the work condition that happens with the indigenous information in this institution had as intention to make contact with the daily activities for the supply of information services in this FUNAI department. The entire study has as main purpose to consider measures or recommendations for a control, systematization and sharing of what has been produced within the theme until the present time through a system as an Inter-American Network of Indigenous Information.
