Abstract:	This is an archive research analysis on a single case. I present the story of Juvenal’s confinement - a man realized criminal insane by the power and knowledge regimes. In 2011 he was the the longest inhabitant surviving the penal and psychiatric regime in Brazil. Juvenal was confined for 46 years in Instituto Psiquiátrico Governador Stênio Gomes, Ceará as a result to committed a violent act against his brother. The collection of documents – a dossier of the forensic hospital and newscast – compose Juvenal’s research corpus. The archive is understood as a registry of knowledge and power that governs the apparatuses of biopolitical of sequestration. It justifies the existence of the Juvenal’s confinement in name of the economy of security. My argument is that the abandonment is a production of biopolitics for the government of criminal insanity. Juvenal confinement challenges the thesis of segregate necessity for a future release. Without social assistance, family is demanded by the experts as a complement of the penal and psychiatric governing power over insanity. Without family, the forensic hospital becomes for Juvenal an apparatus of abandonment. Archive, sequestration, disappearance and abandonment reflect the analytical notions that moved the management of enclousure of Juvenal for decades in a forensic hospital. The abandonment was realized by penal and psychiatric doubling of surveillance of insanity for the economy of security. It was the legal system, not the illegality which marks a body of a man whose insanity was actualized by abandonment.
