Abstract:	The Food and Nutrition Education (FNE), field of action of Food and Nutrition Security and Health Promotion, has been regarded as one of the key strategies to prevent and control the contemporary food and nutritional problems and provide an expanded and systemic perspective of food, which can contribute to the promotion of healthy eating habits in an autonomous and voluntary way. However, there is an evidence of a gap between the theories, the formulations of public policies in FNE and local practices. Moreover, in 2012, the Framework Reference for Food and Nutrition Education in Public Policies was published. This entire situation motivated the development of an action research planned and executed with the active participation of the people involved, under the light of the principles and guidelines of this document that guides the practice of FNE. In this sense, the aim of this study is to analyze, from the perspective of the learner and the educator, the process of teaching and learning and the impact of the action taken. This work proposes a case study with a qualitatively oriented approach with 13 learners and 4 educators who participated on the FNE action developed in Recanto das Emas/DF. Semi-structured individual interviews were held and then analyzed using content analysis. The results were organized into categories, synthesized and interpreted. The findings reveal a great potential of the adopted teaching-learning process. It contributed to the awakening of a critical and holistic awareness of the learners, enabling them to perceive themselves as protagonists of their reality and also able to adopt proactive posture of self-care and transformation of the environment. In addition, the initiative has provided the implementation of an action research consistent with the principles of the method itself, the team and the Framework Reference for FNE. It is evident in this context the importance of going to the field, the local diagnosis, the sensitive listening, the horizontal dialogue and also of work in multi-professional and multidisciplinary team founded on collaboration, trust, ethics and care for the development of actions on educational areas. It is expected that the reflections developed in this work contribute to educational methods and approaches that are sensitive to the subjectivity inherent in the act of feeding, educating and learning.
