Before becoming a tourist destination or a gate to access tourist attractions such as the Jalapão region, the capital city that was created just after the splitting of the State of Goiás as established by the Brazilian Constitution of 1988. A planned city, it has its gross domestic product based on the service sector, mainly in the public sector. Palmas has a privileged territorial dimension constituted by large spaces for environmental preservation and good urban areas, such as Girassóis square, Praia Graciosa and Cesamar Park that generate social spaces for leisure and tourism. Places that present a specific way of hospitality characteristics mainly due to the historical process of its construction. Moreover, we note that the territory of the city is not homogeneous in offering hospitality, including tourism. Based on the theoretical framework (hospitality, tourism and territory) a case study was developed, which allowed gathering detailed information for understanding of hospitality. The competitive advantage used in this research must be understood as a fundamental advantage that the establishments and the touristic sites exhibit regarding its competitors, that can be shown by the superior performance compared to the other cities. It is a key advantage, as it represents the "something more" that show that the city can be distinguished and puts it under the spotlights regarding the other touristic destinations. As a result it was concluded that the hospitality practice in Palmas represent a competitive advantage to improve the tourism in the city. |
