Abstract:	This study, conducted within the research line Translation and Sociodiscursive Practices of the Postgraduate Program in Translation Studies (POSTRAD) at the University of Brasília (UnB), aims to analyze the acquisition of interpretative competence(s) during the training of sign language translators and interpreters (SLIT) in bachelor's degree programs in Translation and Interpretation of Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) and Portuguese offered by public federal universities in Brazil. To achieve this general objective, the specific objectives are: (1) to contextualize and position the disciplinary field of Interpreting Studies (EI) and, more precisely, the Studies of Translation and Interpreting in Sign Language (ETILS) within which the research will be developed; (2) to contextualize and present the concept of curriculum; (3) to present a literature review of theses and dissertations on the theme of interpretative competence from various perspectives; (4) to identify and list the bachelor’s degree programs based on the training of translators and interpreters in Brazilian Sign Language offered by public federal universities in Brazil; and (5) to analyze the curriculum matrices of these undergraduate programs, focusing on the disciplines related to Interpreting Studies. The analysis of the acquisition of interpretative competence(s) during the training of SLIT in bachelor’s degree programs offered by public federal universities is essential, as it identifies a significant gap in the field of research, justifying the relevance of this study. The research structure is divided into five chapters. The first chapter provides a historical overview of relevant disciplinary fields, including Translation Studies, Interpreting Studies, and Studies of Translation and Interpreting in Sign Languages. The second chapter addresses the concepts of translational competence, interpretative competence, and the competence of the interpreter, focusing on the SLIT professional, followed by a literature review on the topic. The third chapter discusses the formation of SLIT, highlighting the evolution of legislation and the current scenario for training these professionals. The fourth chapter presents a survey and analysis of the curriculum matrices of the bachelor’s degree programs, considering the concepts of the interpreter’s competence and competence in interpretation, along with aspects related to the institutionalization of these programs and the professional practice
