Abstract:	This dissertation proposes an investigation about how race relations are inserted in the construction of research agendas and academic discourses in the field of Criminology and Sociology of Violence. Inspired by the book "Social Sciences and pioneers in studies on crime, violence and human rights in Brazil" co-produced by the Public Security Forum and ANPOCS, in which interviews were conducted with the pioneers of the Sociology of Violence, this dissertation is intended to rescue the history of actors to reconstitute the history of the field. From the construction of an "archaeological radiography" of documents such as bibliographical reviews of the field, summaries, articles, projects and, mainly, the interviews offered by these researchers to CPDOC- FGV and to the book "The Social Sciences and Pioneers in Crime Studies, violence and human rights in Brazil”. To this end, a chart was composed based on the results of searches for keywords and key terms in two platforms: SCIELO and Google Scholar, which revealed, albeit initially, the academic profile of researchers dedicated to theme. Finally, the discourses of three researchers in the sociology of violence, criminology and race relations from different generations were contrasted as a way to capture the criticisms and transformations currently experienced in this debate. It is concluded that the field is currently undergoing transformations resulting from affirmative action policies, expanding the racial debate in Brazilian universities in order to provide, on the part of some researchers, a proposal for an anti-racist research agenda in the sociology of violence in Brazil.
