Abstract:	The advent of the Covid-19 pandemic made it imperative to reorient care in all public health field. This situation showed the world the inseparability of precarious living conditions and psychological suffering, highlighting the importance of the debate on human rights and social inequality in this field. At the same time, it reaffirmed the need for investment in the collective construction of care strategies based on the role of the health service user and on the exchange of experiences as a factor to alleviate mental suffering. Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze how the Mutual Help Group constitutes evidence of help and support for users of alcohol and other drugs in mental health care. This is a descriptive and exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, which uses cartography as a research-intervention method anchored in the Mutual Help Group. For data collection, the procedure used was the registration in a field diary, of the group meetings, held in the period from December 2019 to February 2020, in person; and online between September 2020 and March 2021. The group was initially implemented under the coordination of a professional and two users of a Psychosocial Care Center for alcohol and other drugs, located in the northern region of the Federal District. The mutual help groups took place in person at the Social Assistance Reference Center. Due to the pandemic, they later took place in the virtual modality through the WhatsApp video and Google Meet platform. Content analysis of the processes generated in the group was performed. From the content present in the group network, an attempt was made to create analytical categories for monitoring the group fabric and its collective implications. The results showed, from the analysis of the follow-up lines that composed this cartography, the evidence of the group as a support device for users of alcohol and other drugs in mental health care, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The data showed that the group was configured as a strategy to strengthen the psychosocial care network and defense of the Unified Health System. It was observed that the group provided recognition of the user's place in the process of constructing subjectivity while promoting the protagonism of the subject in the production of mental health care. The study also showed that community work in the group was manifested, both in methodologies and in principles and ideas, as a strong factor to be considered by the management and mental health teams for the enhancement of the results of the unique therapeutic projects of the CAPS, in different modalities, as well as a care device in the strengthening of mental health actions within the scope of Primary Health Care. Finally, the group enabled the creation and strengthening of solidarity networks that are present in the social fabric of the subjects involved, enabling the construction of ties by way that went beyond the relationship that the user establishes with the drug.
