Abstract:	Reason and sensitivity are not opposites, but complementary to one another and essential for our psyche and intellectual processes. However, in modernity, we have been led to see them as a dichotomy, a false one, in which reason is superior and sensitivity is an obstacle. This affects several aspects of human life including the appreciation of art and thus, literary studies. Such studies end up being treated only as social science and the artistic character of literature becomes accessory, which limits its transformative power and can alienate readers. In addition to being a kind of mischaracterization of literature itself, this dichotomous view impacts the very process of becoming a reader and our own attitude as researchers. We are sometimes forced to “purge” our subjectivity, even if it is only a performance. Nonetheless, investing in sensitive aspects, however secondary they may seem, leads to deep and true experiences with literature, experiences that, in addition to delighting readers, offer tools for solving problems, facing the adversities of the world and imagining new realities. And, also, reflects on our role as researchers, literature lovers and teachers. In this context, my initial proposal was to bring creative writing as a tool for promoting the artistic character of literature and stimulating readers' sensitive skills and faculties. In order to verify this proposition beyond theoretical research, I carried out field investigations in which I took creative writing to students as a way of approaching the literary text. However, the research on reason and sensitivity, together with the deep exchanges experienced in the interventions and constant reflection during the writing process of this study, resulted in the fact that this work itself ended up becoming an attempt to rewrite our practices without the need for alienating our sensitivity.
