Abstract:	The analysis corpus is composed by 57 master’s dissertations and 24 doctoral thesis, available on CAPES AND IBICT, Brazilian thesis and dissertation data bases. The works range from 2009 to 2019 and addresses hackers under several theoretical-methodological perspectives. These studies were made in 37 public and private educational institutions in 14 Brazilian states. The corpus assesses 15 disciplines from the four major scientific areas (Exact and Earth Sciences; Biological Sciences; Engineering and Health Sciences. The paper uses the Grounded Based on data approach, in the symbolic interactionist perspective presented by Charmaz (2009), and proposes itself to identify, to quantify, to distribute, to analyze, to present the collected data and to display them in charts and tables. The study is qualitative and quantitative, descriptive, exploratory and theoretical- bibliographic. The data analysis is divided in two stages: a) analyzing the topics, fields of knowledge, universities, academic advisers, researchers, gender, level of qualification, year of submission / presentation and keywords; b) analyzing qualitative and quantitatively the dissertation’s and thesis’ abstract, investigating the highlight on the hacker theme in each study. Among the outcomes, it has been noted that the researches produced during the mentioned period tend to emphasize the hacker communicative e educational potentialities, analyzing this social actor as a creative agent and social changing producer, mismatching the big media approach, which tends to associate this cyberculture character to negative aspects such as criminality, vandalism and electronic robbery. By the end, not aiming to refute the by now produced theory about the topic, the proposition is to classify new hackers categories, with the purpose to better narrow this subject fields of action, and, therefore, to contribute to future studies on the theme.
