Abstract:	Among several definitions, collective intelligence can be understood as the ability of social groups to modulate their interactions to solve situations that members, taken individually, would not be able to achieve. The agenda of studies on collective intelligence gained notoriety with the development and popularization of digital social networks, believing, above all, that the so-called wiki platforms represent environments with great possibility for the emergence of this type of intelligence, since they incite interaction and collaboration of users towards a common goal. However, after conducting a survey of studies on collective intelligence in Brazil, it was found that there is some difficulty in differentiating between collective intelligence and Collective knowledge. Bearing this in mind, the aim of this study is to find theoretical foundations that allow classifying collective Intelligence as being a type of intelligence, and to analyze how communication presents itself as a constituent element of that intelligence. And yet, after finding a lack of empirical studies in Brazil on this area, it is also the objective of this study to analyze how the dynamics of collective intelligence occurs within the discussion environments of Wikipedia pages, considered the largest digital encyclopedia in the world and an environment where indications of the emergence of collective intelligence can be found. To achieve these objectives, were used theoretical bases of Cognitive Sciences on how the development of intelligence occurs in human beings. It was also used theories from the field of Communication with regard to how interactions are able to shape both an individual's cognitive systems and experiences, and the concepts of collective intelligence worked by authors from different areas of knowledge. The analysis performed on Wikipedia pages was based on content analysis techniques to be able to measure the level of collaboration between users who participate in discussion groups on diferente pages of the platform according to the model of Murphy (2004), which allowed us to identify, through the extraction of messages from users, that there is collaboration and engagement among users in order to shape their actions towards a common goal. Therefore, and from the various theories worked on, it was possible to identify that the process of editing and improving the content of Wikipedia pages through discussion groups consists of the process of collective intelligence.
