Abstract:	Gone Girl (2012) by Gillian Flynn (1971) shows both sides of a troubled marriage in a surprising romance with two manipulative narrators, Nick and Amy, as well as other troublesome issues surrounding the couple. This work was published in the United States in 2012 and it was rewritten as a script (2013) by the author Gillian Flynn herself. The novel was translated into Brazilian Portuguese by Alexandre Martins and was published as Garota exemplar by Intrínseca, in 2013. Gone Girl (FLYNN, 2012) presents the couple Amy and Nick on their 5th anniversary, when Amy disappears and her husband is charged with her murder during the investigations. Amy discovers that Nick has a mistress, then, she disappears and leaves traces to charge Nick with her murder. The aim of this dissertation is to analyze the first-person narrators in the novel Gone Girl (FLYNN, 2012), in its corresponding Brazilian Portuguese translation Garota exemplar (MARTINS, 2013), and also in the script Gone Girl (FLYNN, 2013). Both narrators are manipulative and unreliable in order to convince the receiver to take a position on either side of the character narrators. For this analysis Lambert and Van Gorp’s model (1985) will be used, since it investigates issues related to preliminary data, macro level, micro level and systemic context from a socio-cultural perspective. Other areas are also considered and include adaptation, film and literature. Researchers include Jakobson (1959), Lefevere (2007), Sanders (2006), Bazin (1991), Bassnett. (2003), Gambier (2003), Díaz-Cintas (2010), Chiaro (2009); Plaza (1987); Santaella (1992), and Peirce (1992). Data obtained regarding the work Gone Girl (FLYNN, 2012), the translation of the literary novel into Portuguese Garota exemplar (MARTINS, 2013) and the script Gone Girl (FLYNN, 2013) indicate that both new works tend to keep the manipulative and unreliable narrators present in the source text.
