Abstract: The hydrographic basin of the headwaters of the Araguaia River, located in areas of the Cerrado morphoclimatic domain, on the border of southwest Goiás and southeast Mato Grosso, since the 1950s has been subjected to an extensive process of anthropization, with emphasis on the conversion of large areas. areas of natural vegetation in agriculture. This process is due to the advance of the agricultural frontier, which in the period, had the Brazilian Cerrado as its preferential direction. Since then, a considerable number of laminar and linear erosive foci has been installed in this hydrographic basin, some of great extent, which are largely related to the removal of vegetation and the absence of soil conservation practices, in addition to the physical conditions of the basin. The erosive and hydrosedimentological impacts mainly fall on the Araguaia River channel and its tributaries, resulting in the loss of agricultural land, as well as on the hydrological processes of this hydrographic basin, among others. Due to similar processes in the various Brazilian regions, the National Water Agency (ANA), like robust global programs for agro-environmental management in hydrographic basins, developed the Water Producer Program (PPA) aimed at preserving vegetation cover and mitigating erosive, sedimentary, and runoff processes in rural properties, in order to favor hydrological processes and to reduce silting of water courses. In order to investigate ways of minimizing erosion processes in the Araguaia spring basin, this work investigated, in a first moment, the impacts of soil loss due to the dynamics of agricultural occupation, and in a second moment, the impacts resulting from the adoption of conservation management practices advocated by the Water Producer Program (PPA). This investigation was carried out by mathematical modeling of soil loss estimation considering conventional and conservationist management, through the Universal Soil Loss Equation (EUPS / USLE) via processing of georeferenced spatial data (geoprocessing). The modeling (EUPS / USLE) of soil loss in the basin in question was carried out considering the land use conditions of the years 1984, 1994, 2004, 2014 and 2018. Among others, the results point to a gradual reduction in the estimate of soil loss. soils for this period, even without the adoption of conservationist management practices. The modeling of conservation scenarios based on the Water Producer Program (PPA) carried out for the year 2018, showed a substantial reduction in soil loss estimates, the same reaching 90.32% for the basin as a whole.
