Abstract:	Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park is a Natural World Heritage Site located in the Cerrado biome, an exclusively brazilian biome. Created in 1961, with the name of Tocantins National Park, it had an area of approximately 625 thousand hectares, which was successively reduced to less than 90% of its original area. After the 2017 expansion, it currently has 240,586.56 hectares. The general objective of this dissertation is to understand how the park's territorial delimitation process took place in three distinct milestones: the creation process (1961); the area reductions (1972 and 1981); and the expansion process, (2001 and 2017). This work falls within the scope of environmental history, above all at Worster's level of mental culture. Therefore, it was carried out from the mapping of the political, institutional, socioeconomic context and the actors involved. The results obtained were the mapping of these contexts and the understanding about which areas of the park were affected, the existing conflicts, the inclinations and motivations that guided the actions and perspectives of the different actors. This work was divided into three main chapters. In the first chapter, the historical context of the region was detailed, covering from the beginning of its occupation until the creation of the Park in 1961. The second chapter is dedicated to the characterization of the region, the historical context of conservation during the military dictatorship and it addresses the two reductions. The third chapter covers social movements in Chapada dos Veadeiros, the expansion process from 2001 to 2017 and the influence of the title of Natural World Heritage Site in this process. The conclusion is that the history of the PNCV consists of a series of overlapping contexts that are not detached from influence at different levels and are inserted in a wide context of local, national and international preservation.
